Since ancient times, people have traveled from place to place in search of food and a better life. Back in the days, we traveled by bullock cart, horse cart, or boat. But as time changed with development, we changed the way we travel.
In today's world, there are three modes of transportation Land, Water, and Air. In this post, we will look at all three modes of transportation. At the end of this post, we will share transportation worksheets that help kids practice and remember the vehicles and modes of transportation.
Land Transportation
It is one of the cheapest and most used modes of transport we use in our daily lives. The following are examples of Land Transportation:
- Car
- Bus
- Truck
- Train
- Motorcycle
- Scooter
- Bicycle
- Tram
- Autorickshaw
- Tractor
- Bicycle
We use different types of land vehicles as per our travel needs. For example, we use bicycles and motorcycles for short distances. But when it comes to long distances, people use a car, a bus or a train. To travel and transport goods over long distances, we use Trucks and Trains. We use buses and trains for transportation between cities and states.
Water Transportation
It's the oldest and cheapest way of transportation used by countries to transport goods across the nations. Following are examples of water transportation:
- Ships
- Boats
- Jetski
We usually use ships and boats to travel short distances. For transportation of goods like oil, food and other things in large amounts we use Cargo Ships. Ships consume less energy and are capable of shipping large volumes of goods.
Air Transportation
It is the quickest mode of transportation from one place to another. But, it is expensive in comparison with land and water transport. Air travel is the fastest when it comes to travel between countries. The following are examples of Air Transport:
- Airplane
- Helicopter
- Spaceship
- Rocket
We use an airplane to commute between cities, states, and countries. Whereas, for short distances, we use Helicopter. For shipping goods in a short time, we can use Air Cargo. To travel beyond Earth, we use Rockets and spaceships. Until now, our scientists are going out of Earth for research.
How to Teach Kids About Transportation
To teach transportation to kindergarteners, it's important to use hands-on and interactive activities. For example, you can take students on a field trip to a local airport or train station. You can also encourage them to build their own vehicles using blocks or cardboard. Another effective approach is to use videos or books that feature different modes of transportation to spark children's interest.Activities for Transportation Education
